Hi, my name is Cindy and this is my weird dating story.
When this story unfolded, I was working as a clerk in a 7-11 store just outside of Boston. Not to sound conceited, but men have always hit on me a lot, so I am sort of used to it in a way. This particular guy seemed really nice, and had been working on me for months before I finally relented. We had actually met online just before I started working at the variety store. Being careful, I decided to meet him someplace rather than have him pick me up at home. First dates are always tricky and I like to be able to depend only on myself for transportation. We met at a restaurant, and since it was a nice night, we opted to eat outside. He did something that I thought was sweet. He had picked me up a small box of chocolates. When I opened them, he suggested that I have one while we waited for our hors d'oeuvres. As we waited for the entree to arrive, he made a game of feeding me chocolates while I struck up sultry and sexy poses. For every new pose, I got a chocolate. Then finally he gets me to start to be sultry and sexy while I am eating the chocolates. I was feeling a bit light headed, and put that down to the wine we were drinking, but was confused because I had only had a sip or two. At the point that we started to eat our entrees, he started to stare at me really closely. It was almost creepy, but for some reason, I was not overly alarmed.
The wine he chose was very tasty and smooth. I am not a huge wine drinker, but I thought that I could get to love that particular label. I did notice though, that as we kept dining, that the wine seemed to be not tasting as good. I figured that was because I had eaten so many sweet chocolates.
About half way through the entree I was truly getting creeped out and decide to go to the bathroom to call a friend of mine for some helpful advice. My friend thought it was hilarious and told me just to be careful and not go anywhere alone with him, but to get a free meal out of the deal. Feeling a bit more assured, I returned to resume eating, but just as I got there, he popped another chocolate in my mouth. Hey, I was young and did not know from up! So I went along and tried to laugh along with him. Since I had never had anything like this ever happen to me before, I decided that I would just finish the rest of the date and chalk it all up to experience.
Feeling a bit uncomfortable, I sort of gulped my wine. As soon as the wine entered my mouth I could tell something was wrong. It was awful! I casually put it down as if I had noticed nothing. I could tell immediately that he had put something in it. I decided it wasn't so fun anymore. I needed to figure out what to do, but I needed time to put a plan together. So I sat there as if nothing was wrong, and even pretended that I was sipping my wine. After about a half hour of stalling and making small talk, I laughingly told him that the wine must be getting to me because I had to go to the washroom again.
I found our waiter, and took him aside telling him the situation, and asked if there was a back door to the place. I needed to get out of there now! He had a busboy take me out the back way to my car. At the same time, my waiter went back to talk to my date about ordering desert and coffee. I was getting so woozy, I did not think I could make it home. I decided to go to my friend's house instead because she did not live that far from the restaurant. I managed to convince my friend that I did not need to go to the hospital. So we spent some time listening to music and I fell asleep. I woke up with a clear head, and that got me shaking as I realized what a close call I had. I figured that he had spiked the chocolates and my wine with a date rape drug or something equivalent.
At this point in my life, I wish that I had had the brains to call the police while I was still in the restaurant to keep him from doing the same thing with some other poor girl. My only excuse was that I was young and under the influence of the drug that he gave me. My thought processes were significantly impaired. I just wanted to get the hell out of there. The security guards at the mall where I work were friends of mine so I let them know about this creep and showed them his online picture. For the next few months one of them were always near or in the store and always walked me to my car after work. Luckily he had disappeared from my life permanently.
It dawned on me a while later how it was that he found me. I had put my work address on my dating site profile. What an idiot I was! I deleted my profile for a couple of months and then signed up with a new handle. That evening could have ended up as a total horror story if I had not escaped! Every time I see my mom, I thank her for nagging me to death as a teen about the nutcases out there and what sorts of sensible precautions to take on a first date.
